New Toy pic to share...

I haven't posted in a while but thought I'd share one of the things I picked up at the TGA auction :(
Very sad day. I was very detached during the auction. I had to be because it was such a special place and to be closing and auctioning is very sad.

I. Post these rules.
II. Each person tagged must post eight random facts about themselves.
III. Must make a blog/journal about this.
IV. Tag eight or more peoples.
V. Go to their page and leave a comment notifying them of their tagging.
Nuber 1 is done...
( Answers to number 2 )
3. Done.
4. I'll go over 8 because I know wilefox and brierios won't do this.
5. No, I am not spamming their LJ's

It seems as though some of my best thinking is done while driving along in Jade (my 1996 Polo Green Corvette Coupe)
Last night as Jeanie was sleeping in the passenger side with her window up I was lost in memories of days gone by. They were those warm reminicient memories, the kind you want to savour like fine wine or chocolate.
( A mundane Corvette Trip )
Looking up at the sky last night, through the space my roof should have been, that was so pretty, things just seemed perfect for memories. Driving along in my Corvette with good company.

Well, this morning on the Steigerwald show (93.7) they are having a lot of fun talking about Barry*.
Oh, the stories of how much an asshole he is. I knew from personal experience he is a pathetic excuse for person.
I just love hearing stories about how bad he really is.
The Pirates are showing a "tribute" video to Barry tonight at the game.
He isn't even sure he is going to play at all during the series, but God, do I hope they boo his ass out of the park.
I hate wishing ill on people. I so want to because of how much of a disgrace he is to baseball. Personally, I could care less about the steroids, I care more about how him being a bad person affects the game.

Well, Wednesday marked 1 year of Jeanie (
pantherpg) putting up with me. Seriously, she and I have been together a year already. I again reiterate that she hasn't wised up yet.
It was a fun day though.
We went and saw Transformers. I was visually impressed with the movie, but I felt like I was watching a US Armed Forces and General Motors commercial. I will say that is was an introduction movie for the new generation. The movie was geared for an older audience, which was nice. I enjoyed all the action and the story for what it was. I was left wanting more. I know I cannot compare it with the movie from the 80's, that I feel was a better movie. Sam was a rarety in that he was an intelligent teenager in a movie. Also, there was a few things in the story that should have been taken out to better develop the Transformers as characters. I also feel that watching that movie 5 years from now it will be awkward because it was to anchored in "today." Again, for what it was I REALLY liked the movie.
Today Visual Source Safe is down. I have a ton of code that needs checked in and cannot do it. This means I am now behind schedule. I came in early to finish testing and check it in for the 8:30 build.
Tonigh, Night of Bacon with Chris (
psywildfire) and group. I wonder for the number of people supposedly coming if it should be Night of Baccon II (I got harrassed in the past for using the play on words without explanation).
Last year at this time we (Trevor (
blackpaladin), Kate (
ladysephiroth), Steve (
euriyggdrasil), Bayani (
arashink), Chris (
psywildfire), Prager (
spacemangroove), Whitney (
saberpilot), Jimmy (
evil_dr_reef), Marcus, Jeanie (
pantherpg), and I) were at IkasuCon in Cincinati Ohio. I remember all of the drama related to it. I will say it was the first time I was happy staying at a Hayatt hotel though. I also remember Chris being all upset because he thought we were trying to ruin his birthday. This year Chris' birthday will be better.
Duncan (
gouf), Jeanie, and I will be going to see Harry Potter tonight before NoB. It has been a tradition since the first Harry Movie that we (Duncan and I) see the movie opening weekend. It puts us in the right place for NoB as well.
This weekend's fun
Positive:
Duncan and the movies
Chris' NoB
Lunch with my Parents today at Pizza Hut
Not so Positives:
Packing
Danny's (Dave's (
limos4u) brother and Trouble's (
hoppnkitty) cousin) wedding this weekend.(The wedding is cool, some of the situations it creates isn't so pleasant)
Dealing with a backlog of Tekko crap.
I am trying to enter more public posts. Only because I am going to give my LJ to my family to see if they read and learn about me.

I origanally was going to put something deep about what I am thinking about and has me concerned about life in general. I was also considering posting about some of the big stuff happening in my life now that it has leaked beyond the people we had originally told.
Wow, this is a public post...
Instead, I am going to look at other things. Like the fact I found two of my cousins' blogs. One was posted in our "My family" page and she had a link on her "blogger" page to my other cousin's. I created 2 feeds on LJ so I can keep up on my friends page. :)
I know I have been writing in here for quite a number of years and I know only a few of my family have ever visited here. I know a lot of my posts are "locked" but still, it would be nice to know if some of them looked at my blog. It is one of those things. At times I feel like my family doesn't know me, and doesn't really want to know me. I admit there are a few exceptions (my cousin Helen and uncle Bill P.) but the rest just try to stay superficial. I think it may be that I don't have kids, a house, a wife, or interests that fit into traditional middle america. Hell, I think at times I have seen interesting things in the last few years. Again, I lock most of my stuff.
I have been looking at their blogs and noticed what is important to them, their kids and SOs. I don't have kids and I try not to write about Jeanie (
pantherpg). She has her own blog and she can keep her life there. I was looking at their pictures and I was wondering if I was missing something. I can look at some of my friends that have kids and see another side of the story. It is interesting that when you blog about your family you post only that which is rosy and nice; not that you 7 year old son breaking both of his wrists by jumping off the top bunk of a bunk bed is nice. It was posted in a semi-positive light. Optimistic is how I would put it.
Do I want a family? Wow, that is a tough question. There is a part of me that wants to say yeah. Then again, there is a part that wants to say no. I am sitting here, at my desk, looking at where I am, and where I want to go. The problem is that there are to many places to go, and life is to short. Where to go next? I'll do what I do best, point myself in a direction and go that way till I have to find a new direction.

I guess I have to call myself an Otaku. I don't want to but, after this morning (or night if you are in Japan) I have crossed the line back to Otakudom.
I mentioned the other day that I was on the verge of slipping back to Otakudom.
So, I will start with a little history.
Back in 1981 a three college students from Osaka University of Arts were asked to create the opening animation for the 20th Japan Science Fiction Convention. This was their first attempt at cel animation. Two years later the group reunited after working in the industry on various different projects to do the opening animation for 22nd Japan Science Fiction Convention. This second animation went on to win the Animage Grand Prix award and grew a large amount of attenion to the group.
As a group they would produce a series of live action films. Later to create the movie Wings of Honneamise.
This company would be known as Gainax.
With that in 1988 Gainax released a making of Daicon book. This book retailed for 16,000 Yen and included a "free" LaserDisc (LD) of the animation with an additional Daicon Film live action film. The Daicon animations were supposed to be released in the United States, but Playboy put an end to that (The costume is the Playboy Bunny suit), let alone the rights to the Electric Light Orchestra music used (Prolog, Twilight, Hold on Tight). The disc is labeled "Not for sale" on the jacket.
Another potential issue is the number of unlicensed characters used in both of the Daicon opening animations.
The LD's do not appear often as there was a limited release of the book with LD. There was a VHS copy of the book as well (following the same "Not for sale" approach). The animations are an important piece of anime history as it marks the creation of one very influential production company.
With that one appeared on Yahoo Japan. As a fan of what is now considered old school anime (I have issues with that) I remember when I first saw the animation in the late 80's (a very bad 3rd generation VHS that the Moonlight Ramblers had and shown) it was to me, incredibly cool. It was apparent that it was important because the 10 minutes of animation was on a tape all to itself (this was not something common for tape trading). I decided to spend the money I had saved for my Gekiranger Gekired jacket on a chance of aquiring this rare LD. In the hayday of LD's this disc would fetch a hefty price. As LDs are now a dead format with limited collectors left the disc is now reasonable to aquire.

I am now waiting for the disc to arrive.

At what point in time did reasonable fly completely out the window in states/districts other than California?
I think I could accept this happening in California because it is the stupid sort of thing Californian's do.
Come on!
It was a pair of pants.

Today Dave had a little girl Sadie, 8 pounds 14 ounces!
Congratulations Dave. (Even though he'll never see this, for those that know him it is nice info to pass along)

I wish I could go to Marcon. Last year was an interesting experience. I met
kittylair there last year. Learned of Barfleet and had a good time.
Gas prices being so high makes it a little too expensive to go. If you are in the area I do recommend Marcon.
